No concern. Approved.

Max validity of CS certs (Ian) – proposal

Ian sent out a proposal to the list to shorten validity down to 460 days, rather than xx months to keep it clear. Effective date proposed for May 30th. A short discussion was had if we can move this to the middle of the month. Ian will update the proposal effective date to June 15th. Ian will circulate a ballot text. Bruce and Dean offered to endorse the ballot pending review of the final text.

Fall elections: Vice Chair nomination (Tom Zermeno)

Voting period in progress at the moment. Voting looks good right now.

Other business

Bruce – We still need to review ballots from other working groups. We should make sure we don’t fall out of sync too much. Bruce offered to send out an email with all ballots that have passed so we can review.

Next meeting – November 14th

Proposed to cancel the November 28th meeting as it is a public holiday in the US.

S/MIME Requirements
v1.0.8 - Ballot SMC010 - Dec 23, 2024

This ballot adopts Multi-Perspective Issuance Corroboration (MPIC) for CAs when conducting Email Domain Control Validation (DCV) and Certification Authority Authorization (CAA) checks for S/MIME Certificates. The Ballot adopts the MPIC implementation consistent with the TLS Baseline Requirements. Acknowledging that some S/MIME CAs with no TLS operations may require additional time to deploy MPIC, the Ballot has a Compliance Date of May 15, 2025. Following that date the implementation timeline described in TLS BR section 3.2.2.9 applies. This ballot is proposed by Stephen Davidson (DigiCert) and endorsed by Ashish Dhiman (GlobalSign) and Nicolas Lidzborski (Google).
